Senior Associate
Valentina is a Senior Associate in the Environment team (named “Next Generation Lawyer” by Legal 500 2018). She has been practicing this area of law since 2008. She regularly advises clients on various aspects of the sustainability/climate change agenda and the transition to a low carbon, waste and resources economy. Her experience includes defending environment prosecutions and some health and safety actions. She represents multinationals defending claims, supporting witnesses and directors/managers. In terms of advisory work Valentina advises corporates and financiers in relation to contractual transfer of risk and apportionment of liability for environmental damage and contaminated land, the requirement for and the interpretation of environmental permits, licences and consents, impact of onshore and offshore renewable energy developments, CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, ESOS, REACH, product stewardship, Eco-Design of Energy Using Products, Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, climate change and cleantech, COMAH, hazardous substances (including asbestos), facilities decommissioning and remediation, waste acceptance criteria and Quality Protocols, packaging waste, transfrontier shipment of waste, and emissions trading. Valentina is a regular speaker at international green shipping events and advises on a range of topics from compliance with sulphur regulations and IMO 2020, ship and crew safety, scrubber systems rules, responsible ship recycling and ballast water management to smart ports and mandatory carbon reporting of emissions for ships. Valentina is fluent in Russian and Spanish
